€6m research project with Huawei

Software continues to grow in importance as the primary driver of innovation across all domains. The many high profile software failures of recent years are stark testimony to the fact that a new Software Crisis 2.0 is upon us. Society expects that systems should embody the values to which we aspire. It is no longer sufficient to merely fulfil technical requirements. The prominent lawyer, Lawrence Lessig, has argued that Code is Law in recognition of the fact that the algorithms and systems which increasingly underpin our economy and society today are expressed in software code that is not easily accessible to the average citizen. Lero and Huawei intend to be in the vanguard and lead in the new era with the trustworthy responsible efficient engineering of software (TREES) programme which involves a number of state-of-the-art projects in the area.
